There are lots of universities in China that teaches Mandarin.

I suggest you ask some questions and look for some answers on Chinese Forums. There you will be able to meet current students and get their feedback to your questions.

Hi,

The words come from vocabulary lists where the pinyin pronunciation has already been decided (for the user/student). The flashcard will not teach different pronunciations for a character (f.e. 不 that could have different tones in different combinations). I believe this also answers questions 2 & 3. If not, please let me know.

What about the alterations in tone due to combinations? Secondly, what about the alternatives to such alterations, due to the pauses which negate those alterations? Thirdly, did you just use the analysis of phonemes according to pinyin, and do you regard this as sufficient?
